Doria 1905 is a historic brand of hats that is the result of tradition, craftsmanship and quality; its roots are in the sartorial tradition of handmade products strictly Made in Italy.
A product of classic and timeless inspiration, interpreting a new way of being contemporary. Coppola, Trilby, Cloche, Berets, Panama, Fedora, expressions of a natural, refined style, of a modern and accessible elegance.
The utmost care and attention are paid to the choice of materials, the finishing touches and the respect for the history and experience of Made in Italy, maintaining unchanged the workmanship handed down from generation to generation, even if innovated by an advanced technique. Doria1905 proposes a restyling of the classic hat made with humour and rigour, inspired by a refined and linear creativity.
Foundation of Doria 1905 brand
DORIA brand was born in Maglie (Lecce) in 1905 from a small tailor's workshop in the town centre, specialising in the production of caps and clothing, where the D'Oria family, who had settled in the area at the end of the previous century, made precious garments with craftsmanship and passion.
The family name, and consequently the brand name, derives from Oria, a city in the Brindisi area which, between the 7th and 10th centuries, was home to one of the most illustrious and prestigious Jewish communities in Europe. The D'Oria family crest, still used today as the company crest, also derives from the coat of arms of the city of Oria, which still stands out on the 'Gate of the Jews'.
Son Sabino Doria takes over
In 1937, his son Sabino continued the family's adventure, setting up Sabino D'Oria e Figli, a small company that set up in a factory on the outskirts of the city, dedicated to the production of children's clothing and specialised in berets, a typical local product that saw Maglie as the hub of the best Italian beret-making district.
The revolution of the 1960s
It was in the early 1960s that the D'Oria family decided to invest in a new three-storey factory, which is still the company headquarters today, with an all-female workforce and around 120 employees.
Diversifying production and specialising not only in children's clothing but also in military supplies, with particular attention to headgear, which remains the fulcrum around which all production revolves.
The revival of the 2000s
Acquired at the end of the 1990s by the Gallo family of Asti, "neo.B-Lab S.p.A." distinguished itself from the outset for its commitment to high-end craftsmanship, with a continuous focus on attention to detail, styles and trends that soon led to the enrichment of its product range.
Today the company boasts a young and completely renewed staff, made up of a commercial division, a style section, 15 specialised workers and a LAB entirely dedicated to prototyping for the DORIA brand and for external customers.
At the end of 2012, Neo.B-Lab decided to launch an ambitious project to restyle and relaunch the DORIA brand, renamed DORIA 1905 in honour of its prestigious history, whose founding principle is the fusion of research into the study of archives and tailoring, the fruit of tradition and history, and knowledge of the most innovative production techniques.
A production in continuous evolution and improvement, whose hats are no longer simple headgear, but precious accessories, the result of passion, skill, commitment, and dedication.
