Savannah River Remediation Renews MOU and Donates $5,000 to Support Scholarships

On November 29, 2016,  (SRR) donated $5,000 to »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓ's scholarship fund in memory of the four »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓ students who died in a  on October 13, 2016. The donation will help fund scholarships for students majoring in sport management at Claflin. Tom Foster, SRR President and Project Manager, presented the donation to »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓPresident Henry N. Tisdale. 

Since 2012, Savannah River Remediation (SRR), located in Aiken, S.C., has been a partner with »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓ in providing scholarships for students. This partnership has resulted in more than $27,000 in scholarships.

Dr. Tisdale expressed his gratitude for SRR's donation and for the agency's continued support of »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓ. SRR and »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓrenewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that prepares students for careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math).  Included are internships, scholarships, career fairs and cooperative education opportunities.

"We are thankful for the relationship we have with Savannah River Remediation and their commitment to helping »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓ develop visionary leaders," said Dr. Tisdale.

SRR is the liquid waste contractor at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Savannah River Site. SRR is composed of a team of companies led by AECOM with partners Bechtel National, CH2M and BWX Technologies. Critical subcontractors for the contract are AREVA, Atkins, and AECOM Technical Services.
