Keenan Robinson

Keenan Robinson, a senior music education major at »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓ, starts his day around 8:30 a.m. with a quiet breakfast before heading to his 11 a.m. classes.

With a lighter class schedule in his senior year, Keenan has more time to focus on what truly drives his love for music.

The passion for music shows most clearly outside the classroom.

As soon as his morning classes end, he heads straight to the practice room to spend an hour at the piano. This routine has been part of his life throughout college, showcasing Keenan’s steady discipline and dedication he has for music.

“After those classes, I go into my practice room to do some short piano work for about an hour,” Robinson said.

After lunch, Keenan switches his focus to homework while he prepares for his afternoon classes. Once those classes finish, he’s right back to the practice room this time for a longer session, lasting up to two hours.

“I spend the majority of the time in my practice room. To end my day with practice sessions are usually an hour or two depending on what needs to be worked on,” Robinson said.

On top of his piano work, Keenan also spends an hour studying choir music, bringing his total music practice time to three hours a day.

“Studying choir music adds an additional hour onto that, making for three hours of musical study,” Robinson said.

With such a busy schedule, Keenan understands the importance of balance. After practice, he makes time to relax and spend time with friends, usually at the student center.

“After that session ends, I find something recreational to do to calm my brain back down, which usually involves going to the student center with friends,” Robinson said.

Around 11 p.m., he heads back to his room to finish any remaining homework before calling it a night.

For Keenan, music is not just something he studies, it’s a part of who he is. As graduation nears, he’s preparing for his next chapter at East Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas, where he will pursue a master of music in piano performance.

Keenan’s time at »¨¶¼Ó°ÊÓhas been shaped by hard work, focus and a deep love for music. His journey shows what’s possible when passion and dedication come together and he’s only just getting started.
